I host my websites using a company out of Texas called HostGator.com.has very reasonable prices and they will walk you through any real problem that you’re having. HostGator.com will stay on the phone with you until you’re ready to get off the phone or its time for them to go home. This is why I use them. I tell all my friends and people in passing about their company and how they answer the phone 24 hours a day!

HostGator.com with their use of Cpanel is a very good place to start.  If you want to possibly make websites on the regular basis I would stick with a company that uses Cpanel just to be on the safe side .If you’re using a content management system such as WordPress, Joomla or Dura, Cpanel will let you know when it’s time to upgrade your website to prevent hacks and loopholes in your website.  Also if you tell them I sent you, you should get a discount.
